Pregnancy and Postnatal Pilates

We’re passionate about supporting pregnant and post-natal women. If you are pregnant, you can enjoy Pilates every day at our studios in Claremont and Applecross (please read below). We have two pathways for you if you’re pregnant:

  1. If you are new to the studio, first attend a private Pilates session in order to join our regular group classes (see below).
  2. Enjoy private Pilates sessions throughout your pregnancy.

If you’re thinking about conceiving, Pilates and yoga are great ways to improve your fitness, strengthen your body and destress. Exercise is a great starting point for living a healthier lifestyle and therefore may aid in fertility.

PREGNANCY PILATES

Pilates for existing Members

You can continue to attend any of our classes up to and including 15 weeks pregnant. Please follow the recommendations of your health professionals regarding exercise. From 16 weeks, we need to modify exercises for your safety and the safety of your baby (see below).

Are you new to Balanze?

We require you to complete a Private session before joining our group Pilates classes.  We will show you the modifications which will allow you to exercise safely and confidently in our group classes.

The group classes that are suitable when you’re pregnant are:

  • Technique Reformer
  • Pilates Beats (at Claremont)

Please note that Energy Reformer, Sweat Reformer and Vinyasa Flow are not suitable for pregnancy.

Postnatal Pilates

Once you’ve had your 6 week postnatal check, you can return to group classes. Please restart with Technique Reformer or a private session. If you have any queries, give us a call or email us.
