Movement Principles and Mat – $3,450

  • Movement Principles and Anatomy, Mat 1, 2 and 3
  • 64 hours in-person
  • 20 Mat personal sessions, 15 observation hours and 35 student teaching hours
  • Includes training to use props
  • Includes training to cover seniors, pre-natal, osteoporosis, sports specific and injury
  • 4 textbooks
  • Written and practical exam
  • $200 discount if purchased by 31″ January
  • Dates: Feb 24 and 26, March 1, 3, 5, 10, 12, 15, 17 between 930/10am and 130/2pm

Reformer – $3150

  • Reformer 1,2, and 3 (note must complete MP & M first)
  • 48 hours in-person
  • 30 Reformer personal sessions, 30 observation hours and 90 student teaching hours
  • Includes training to use props
  • Includes training to cover seniors, pre-natal, osteoporosis, sports specific and injury
  • Includes advanced exercises such as Star, Snake, Twist, Tendon Stretch
  • 3 textbooks ⁃ Written and practical exam
  • $200 discount if purchased by 31″ January
  • Dates: April 21, 23, 26, 28, 30, and May 5, 7, 12, 14 between 1015am and 215pm

FAQ

Is there a pre-requisite number of practice hours before the course starts?

10 Mat classes for the Mat training and 20 Reformer classes for the Reformer training.

What qualification will I receive?

A Balanced Body certification of completion for the relevant course.

What are the practice, observation and teaching hours required?

Please see above.

Where is the course being held?

At Balanze, Lower Level, 322 Stirling Highway, Claremont, 6010

Where can I complete my practice hours?

At any studio, but we recommend a studio with Balanced Body equipment, so you get used to the same spring settings. Receive a $200 account credit at Balanze when you sign up to each course.

Where can I complete my observation and teaching hours?

At any studio. Our host studio Balanze and the Pilates Klinik are happy for you to observe and co-instruct.

You can train friends and family at home and that counts as full teaching hours.

If you’re assisting in a class, as long as your correcting and giving direction to students your helping them this is also considered a teaching hour.

When can I start teaching?

Once you’ve received your certificate, and applied for your insurance, you can start teaching. You’ll also need to complete a Senior First Aid course before you can teach.

Are there any other costs?

You’ll complete a written and practical exam at the end of each course.

Once you have completed all of your teaching, self practice and observation hours you will apply to test-out.

Once approved, you will then book a time with Kristen for a written and practical exam teaching for 1 hour. If you pass you will receive an instructor certificate for that course, i.e. Mat pilates instructor Mat/Reformer pilates instructor Comprehensive Pilates instructor ( diploma) Each test-out cost is $350. You can test-out in each separately or you can wait until you complete all of your hours for everything you do and test-out one time.

What course support is available?

The in-person delivery method ensures you receive face to face feedback throughout the course. Our team is available to support you throughout the course.

What happens if I miss a day?

You can organise to make up the session with Kristen at an alternate time, at an additional cost of $50 per hour.

Do these modules articulate to the Balanced Body Comprehensive Certification?

Yes, the Comprehensive Certification is modular, so you can complete additional modules (e.g. chair, Cadillac, Barrels).

Can I do the Movement Principles and Mat if I’ve studied a Pilates course elsewhere?

Yes, Movement Principles is a pre-requisite for Mat and if you’re an existing instructor (e.g. Reformer) we welcome you to join this course to expand your teaching expertise.

Are there payment plans available?

Yes we can do a payment plan. Depending on when you sign up we can work out what that looks like as long as you are paid in full before the course finishes.
